Research Associate
Michael Ndichu Kungu is a research associate with diverse experience in economics, specializing in behavioral analysis and organizational management. At the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics, he designed and coordinated behavioral survey studies in low-income communities, focusing on interventions to encourage savings, and published research on public safety in Kenya’s matatu sector. Through his strategic advisory roles at McKinsey & Company, PwC, and Business Sweden, Michael has supported governments, development finance institutions, and private firms across Africa. His work has included developing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), supporting organizational restructuring during M&A integrations, leading capacity-building initiatives, and conducting extensive market research and stakeholder consultations across 11 African countries. Michael’s interdisciplinary research interests lie at the intersection of human behavior, organizational performance, and policy design, with a commitment to generating evidence-based insights that drive innovation and institutional growth.
